Lock 16 Visitors Center

A few short blocks from the LaSalle Canal Boat is the Lock 16 Visitor Center. The restored vintage building that was once home to a horse buggy maker now celebrates another historic form of transportation: the canal boat. Although the LaSalle Canal Boat season is over for 2010 you can still visit the Lock 16 Visitor Center if you are in the mood to learn, dine and shop in a truly unique atmosphere.

The Lock 16 Visitor Center is part restaurant, part gift shop, and part museum.  The building is a restored vintage, historically-significant building located in downtown LaSalle, only 10 minutes from Starved Rock State Park and is the visitor center for the LaSalle Canal Boat, I&M Canal information and exhibits.

The Lock 16 Center offers more than a warm & cozy café with freshly brewed coffee and espresso drinks, homemade pies and desserts, simple breakfasts and lunches. There is a unique shop of gifts to commemorate your visit to the Illinois Valley and the LaSalle Canal Boat with a vintage, historic, or unique look and feel. As a historic part of Starved Rock Country, no trip would be complete without a stop by the Lock 16.

The Lock 16 Café is open 7 days a week offering delicious food with homemade bakery items and treats:
