Before this week’s adventure I am doing a shameless plug to all of you to call and bid on a pie I’m making for the Annual Pie Auction. All proceeds go to benefit the Ottawa Downtown Merchants. To be more specific I am making a Key Lime Margarita Pie.
We all have enjoyed downtown Ottawa and there are few places in the Midwest that inspire a greater feeling of nostalgia than down town Ottawa. The downtown business district forms an enclave of owner operated shops and restaurants. The wholesome feeling of doing business as friends and neighbors is alive and well in downtown Ottawa. They sponsor some extraordinary events such as Scarecrow Festival, Pumpkin Palooza, Ice Odyssey, Wine and Jazz Fest and Riverfest. This wouldn’t be such an amazing place to visit and live without the help of the Ottawa Downtown Merchants Association and the Annual Pie Auction is one of the fundraiser that helps support this organization as they continue to make it a phenomenal downtown. So bid HIGH FOR PIE!
So speaking of downtown Ottawa, I thought this week it would be good to let you know of a few new businesses to visit. I will save some of my not so new favorite downtown businesses for another week!
First of all, a new restaurant has opened at 215 West Jefferson. BASH (Burgers And Sushi House) has received amazing reviews from the décor, to the people to the food. I will warn you like every new restaurant it has been packed with patrons so you may have to wait so be prepared, but there is a bar there! Closed on Sunday and Mondays!
A second business that you may not be aware of is Layna Bella Boutique. It is located at 112 W. Main (next to JJ’s). A locally-owned store that offers trendy clothing for both men and women. Opened Monday thru Saturday at 10 am!
Thirdly there is J’Adore Fashions at 712 LaSalle Street and The Fox’s Den opened at 720 LaSalle Street which is an boutique and upscale resale shop. I haven’t had a chance to visit these two yet, so I will put them on my Adventure List!
Time to sign off, but I will be back with some of my favorite downtown businesses! Until next time….enjoy a new adventure everyday (like buying a pie:)!!!
