3rd Annual Ducky Derby Promises To Be More Speck-Quakular Than Ever
This fun-filled family event is sponsored by Marquette Academy and this year they have added a new feature “Duck Fest” to the event.
“Duck Fest” is a showcase of over twenty vendors selling and promoting their crafts, goods and services. And as in past years, the big event continues when over 1,000 little yellow critters are tossed into the marina and race for the shore where their adoptive families flock to see who will win the prize.
All duck mania will culminate on race day, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Heritage Harbor Marina.
The Duck Fest is from Noon to 7:00 pm, race time begins at 6:30 pm followed by music from 7:30-10:30 pm by Steve Sharp & Wake the Sheep.
“These adorable ducks sporting sunglasses and a big smile, have been preparing for months to go out and raise money for a good cause. The event provides a great way for the community to get involved and yet have some fun.”
The grand prize for the owner of the winning duck is $500, second place is $250, third place is $50 and don’t worry if you come in last you will win $100.
Adoptions are $5 per duck or a six-quack for $25. Adoptions are available at All Marquette Academy Campuses, Crawdad’s Bar & Grill, Dayton Ridge Golf Club, The Hair Studio and Heritage Harbor.
Heritage Harbor Ottawa believes that to be a part of a community you need to be active in your community. This event has had a great turn out in years past and we are hoping to surpass the numbers of previous events. The addition of the craft show allows visitors/ participants to patronize local vendors and to also get a jump on your holiday shopping.
