Stories in Stone: A Cemetery Walk

Oct. 23, 2010 – Oct. 24, 2010 , 12pm – 3pm for Cemetery Tours

LaSalle County Tourism and Heritage Corridor invite you join them on this historical Cemetery Walk – Stories in Stone

. . . “where history comes to life”. On Saturday and Sunday tour cemeteries throughout LaSalle County and listen to the stories of significant figures of the past.  A way to make local history  interesting. Even the kids will think this is cool.

The featured cemeteries are: Riverview Cemetery (Streator), Ottawa Avenue Cemetery (Ottawa), and Rockwell/Oakwood Cemetery (LaSalle).

In addition, on Saturday the Reddick Mansion will be draped for the funeral of Mrs. Reddick “The Mourning After” from 3pm – 5pm and from 5pm – 7pm, Hegeler-Carus Mansion will host “Just Desserts”. Then at 7pm join Trish at Starved Rock for “Ghost Stories”. Donations Appreciated.

Late October is the perfect time to take stroll through a cemetery… you might just scare up some interest in your local history.
