This area is blessed with two very distinguished wineries that use locally grown grapes and through the production of wine support the local agricultural community.
Once you visit these two distinct wineries you will understand why wine has become such a passion in Starved Rock Country. You have the chance to experience truly unique, fine wines of Illinois!
Take time to admire the work of many local artists – featuring wood carvings, quilted items, pottery, paintings, jewelry, wine bottle lamps, and artisan chocolates and cheese.
The Illinois River Winery was founded in 1998 with the establishment of Starved Rock Vineyards. Illinois River Winery is located near the Illinois River on Rt. 178, within sight of Starved Rock State Park, offering more than 40 wines for you to try.
Free tours are available on Saturday afternoons at 1,2,3 and 4 pm. Meet at the Tasting room to start the 20 minute tour. Children welcome!
The tasting room is open daily from 10am – 5pm The tasting room is comfortably furnished with comfy leather couches, bistro tables, Italian tile, romantic fireplace, and a kid’s corner.
The August Hill Winery Tasting Room is located in historic downtown Utica, just minutes from Starved Rock State Park.
The Tasting Experience
Riedel glassware is world-renowned for making wine glasses that enhance bouquet, taste, balance and finish of wine. August Hill Winery is pleased to announce that we will now be serving all of our wines in our new Riedel signature stemware. We will be charging a nominal fee of $3 for six wine tastings; or if you prefer, for just $12 you may purchase our Riedel signature stemware with your tasting so you can enhance your wine experience at home.

Enjoy the indoor tasting room or weather permitting; you can enjoy your favorite AHW wines while relaxing on the beautiful outdoor patio.
