    From the Harbor Master

mark Labor Day Weekend will be Jam Packed with Fun things to do at the Marina.

The 80's Party is this Saturday Night. Dress up in your best 80's style. Entertainment will start at 7pm.

The Craft show will be Sunday along with the big Ducky Derby to benefit Marquette Academy. The festivities start at Noon. If you don't already have your duck for the big race, don't worry you can still "adopt" one at Crawdad's or the Marina Office. It will be a lot of fun and there is even a prize for the ducky who comes home last.

We had 5 (B-17, B-19, B-20, B-21 & C-19) boaters leave for a trip to Peoria last weekend. All have returned safely. We are glad to have you back and it sounded like everyone had a great time.

We are also very pleased to announce that the sewer & water connections are now complete for the Marina district. We sure appreciate your patience while we were making these important improvements and we are very glad to have this work complete.

FYI: Fuel is still $ 3.40 per gallon this weekend and I will continue to purchase straight unleaded.

Water Level Warning: The water level is even lower this weekend. Please be sure to watch for hazards in the water.

See you this long Holiday weekend!

ducky Third Annual Ducky Derby

Marquette Academy's Third Annual Ducky Derby at Heritage Harbor Ottawa is this weekend! The fun-filled family event is sponsored by Marquette Academy and this year's event will have an added feature "Duck Fest"

"Duck Fest" is a showcase of over twenty vendors selling and promoting their crafts, goods and services. And as in past years, the big event continues when over 1,000 little yellow critters are cast into the marina and race for the shore where their adoptive families flock to see who will win the prize. All the duck mania will culminate on race day, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Heritage Harbor Marina.

The Duck Fest is from Noon to 7:00 pm, race time begins at 6:30 pm followed by music from 7:30-10:30 pm by Steve Sharp & Wake the Sheep.

"These adorable ducks sporting sunglasses and a big smile, have been preparing for months to go out and raise money for a good cause. The event provides a great way for the community to get involved and yet have some fun."

The grand prize for the owner of the winning duck is $500, second place is $250, third place is $50 and don't worry, if you come in last you will win $100. Adoptions are $5 per duck or a six-quack for $25.

Adoptions are available at All Marquette Academy Campuses, Crawdad's Bar & Grill, Dayton Ridge Golf Club, The Hair Studio and Heritage Harbor.
