    From the Harbor Master

mark We had a Great Weekend for the 2nd Annual River Games. Thanks to everyone that attended River Games 2010. The weather was perfect for wakeboarding!

This weekend we are excited to hold the very popular Island Party. This event will be held on the interior lake on Bull's Island and not South Beach like last year. We will transport you to and from the island by pontoon boat. It should be a good time and I hope to see you there. Make sure you RSVP with Sherri so we can make sure you and your family can join us.

Helpful Tip: If your cell phone accepts "app's", Tom found a great "app" for knot tying. Animated Knots by Grog is simply the best and most comprehensive teaching and reference tool for boaters, climbers, and fishermen. Watch as knots tie themselves in simple step-by-step photo animations. This is the best instructional program I have seen for knots. The "app" is $4.99 but well worth the money.

Hope to see you this Weekend!

    Harbor Times: River Games 2010

ski River Games 2010 was an amazing day at Heritage Harbor. Our second annual River Games had perfect weather for a day on the water. Those with an adventurous spirit ranging in age from 5 years to over 50 tried the sport that took more than a few attempts to get the hang of. Free professional instruction from All-Action Sports and Wakeboard Chicago over 80 participants received free wakeboarding lessons using boats from Chicago MasterCraft and Quest Water Sports. The amateurs took a seat in mid afternoon while the pros took the water for a breathtaking display of skill and daring.

paraThe show was completed by a high-energy parachute routine from the adrenaline team of Skydive Chicago.

Heritage Harbor lifestyle director Sherri Cutler said "the goal of the event was to promote water activities by providing instruction, education and safety."

The day ignited an adventure spark in many who now will be purchasing goods and or services provided the local sponsors. Thank you to all who participated. We hope to make this an annual event. paraThis years sponsors included Heritage Harbor Ottawa, Quest WaterSports, Chicago MasterCraft, All- Action, Monster, Skydive Chicago, Mitsubishi, Bud Light, Bill Walsh, Crawdad's, Illinois River, Raging Buffalo, & Echo Bluff. Our sponsors offered instruction and information about equipment and /or services that fit well with the Adventure Lifestyle of Heritage Harbor Ottawa.
